      <image:caption>In 1924 the land on Lawai Road on the South Shore of Kaua’i was established to honor Prince Jonah Kuhio Kalanianaole Piikoi. This location was his birth place in 1871, surrounded by several heiau and acres of ancient archaeological features. The park is maintained by the Royal Order of Kamehameha I - “Kaumualii” Chapter 3" and Nā Kahu o Hōʻai, who continue the work of Prince Kuhio and his legacy of dedication to the Hawaiian people.</image:caption>

The site is currently under restoration with ongoing work to rehabilitate the area for the benefit of current and future generations.</image:caption>
