Join a Community Workday at the Kamaloʻula Cultural Preserve
How to sign up for a workday
Our new Community Volunteer Program invites the public to participate in our reclamation and restoration efforts. Examples of work priorities at present include:
“Bushwhacking” (cut down guinea grass/bushes/small haole koa with weedwhackers; grass carrying and moving cut branches; cutting and stacking). Equipment: weedwhackers, safety glasses, gloves.
Tree trimming (cut and breakdown mature haole koa trees). Equipment: Loppers, sawzalls, gloves.
Loading (remove piles of green waste/trimmed tress and bring to bin). Equipment: gloves.
Rock stacking (arrange/stack rocks into piles for future wall/structure rebuilds). Equipment: gloves
A schedule of upcoming workdays is listed below.
Sat. April 6, 2024 (8:30am - 12:00pm + optional lunch)
Sat. June 1, 2024 (8:30am - 12:00pm + optional lunch)
Sat. August 3, 2024 (8:30am - 12:00pm + optional lunch)
Sat. October 5, 2024 (8:30am - 12:00pm + optional lunch)
Sat. December 7, 2024 (8:30am - 12:00pm + optional lunch)
To register for a scheduled workday, please follow the steps below. You will be contacted with confirmation and more information. Please be sure to initial/sign waiver. NOTE: Lunch will be provided for participants who pre-register at least 3 days prior to workday.

Step 1: Submit the Registration Form
The Registration Form provides your contact information, which date(s) you are signing up for, and also tells the site hosts which work priorities you will be able to take part in on your scheduled work day. Fill out the online form below (preferred) or print out and email the PDF form at least three days before your scheduled work day.

Step 2: Wait for Confirmation
Once approved for a specific workday, we will contact you with a confirmation and more information. Depending on our schedule (please remember: we’re all volunteers!) this may take a little while. Mahalo for your patience!
